What is an Educator Card?
- Eligible educators can apply for a free Educator Card to check out items for classroom use. Educators then do not have to use personal cards for school/classroom use.
- Activity on Educator Cards does not affect personal cards and vice versa.
Who can get an Educator Card?
- Educators who are residents of Wisconsin and can validate employment with a licensed early childhood/childcare center, public or private K-12 school or similar educational organization.
- Homeschoolers who are residents of Wisconsin (one adult homeschool educator card per family).
How does an Educator Card differ from a regular card?
- Patrons using Educator Cards can check out up 75 items for eight weeks (rather than the regular three weeks).
- No renewals are allowed on items.
- Educator Cards expire every August 15. Cards may be renewed, in person, by providing valid educator identification.
What can be borrowed with an Educator Card?
- Educator Cards are intended for borrowing items for use by/with students, not items for personal use.
- All library items can be borrowed EXCEPT: R-rated DVDs, video games and Wi-Fi hotspots.
- Educator Cards may be used to request interlibrary loan (ILL) items from other libraries. Loan periods may vary.
How do I get an Educator Card?
- Apply in person at Manitowoc Public Library.
- Fill out a short paper application and show the required ID and employment verification (such as staff badge).
