The holiday season is fast approaching and December is literally right around the corner. Are you all geared up for winter? As I look out my window at work today, I see snow swirling and the wind blowing—winter is coming! At Manitowoc Public Library, we’re commemorating the arrival of the year’s chilliest season with Winter Fest 2022!
Winter Fest is a celebration of wintertime and the holiday seasons all rolled into one big day of making merry! And what better place to ring it in than at the Library?! Winter Fest will have activities, LIVE music, LIVE reindeer, and more happening on Sunday, December 4, from Noon until 4 PM. Here’s what you can expect at MPL on that potentially flurrious afternoon.
Enjoy LIVE music throughout the entire afternoon. Come in from the cold, sit by the fire—or any cozy, open seat you may find around the Library—and listen to some Holiday Melodies presented by a fantastic array of talented local musicians scattered throughout the building. Specifically, here’s what you can look forward to:
- 12 PM Lincoln Singers
- 1 PM Direct from the Forst Inn—Mistletoe Musings
- 2 PM Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra String Quartet
- 3 PM Alice Kosloski: Tickling the Holiday Ivories
Feel free to wander over to the Enchanted Evergleam Forest or one of the kitschy, nostalgic Selfie Photo-Op spots. Take a throwback pic of you and those you hold near and dear to commemorate the afternoon. I’m feeling rather sparkly just thinking about it!
Looking for something that the kiddos can do? Crafts Stations will be available in the Youth Services Department on the Second Floor from 1-3 PM. Kids can head upstairs to make some fun winter-themed art.
Members of the Friends of Manitowoc Public Library will be on-hand also, supplying FREE Holiday Books to all interested parties.
And there will be something special at the Library on December 4 that you most-definitely don’t see on a daily basis—LIVE Reindeer from Santa’s Crew will be out on the Library Lawn from 1-3 PM. Get up-close and spend a little time with these wonderful arctic animals. This makes for a great family photo-opportunity, as well.
New this year, we’ll also be honoring Hmong New Year with a special Coloring Contest. Coloring sheets featuring Hmong culture will be made available for both Youth and Adults starting on Friday, November 25, at the Service Desks. Patrons are asked to color the images and return them to MPL by Sunday, December 4. Grand Prizes will be given in both Youth and Adult categories, with smaller prizes awarded for Honorable Mentions.
So, come on down to Manitowoc Public Library for a day of winter fun at Winter Fest 2022! December 4 at MPL will be filled with music, books, photo opportunities, and more from 12-4 PM, with kids’ activities taking place from 1-3 PM.
See you there!
