Event Details

The weeklong Wisconsin Science Festival features events throughout Wisconsin for people of all ages. Help MPL celebrate by participating in a variety of activities, all listed below.

How to participate:

  1. Participate in a Bioblitz as part of the WisSciFest Bioblitz! Download the iNaturalist App to record species.
    • A BioBlitz activity tries to measure as much life as possible within a defined space and time. Interested in bugs? Spend an afternoon counting all the insects at a local park. A BioBlitz can take place in a park, a school, an urban lot or your backyard. The possibilities are endless!
    • Download the iNaturalist app on your device (optional but encouraged), find at least 10 species in the environment around you, and add your observations to the Wisconsin Science Festival BioBlitz project on iNaturalist.
  2. Pick up a free “Science in a Bag” STEM kit from the Youth Services Department
    • These kits are appropriate for ages K-12 and feature science and research happening in the State of Wisconsin. Kits are available one per family, while supplies last.
  3. Attend the all-ages ‘Mad Science!’ event at MPL on Saturday, October 19 at 10AM.
    • Mad Science from Milwaukee will enthrall audiences of all ages with experiments demonstrating the principles of air and pressure. A dry-cleaning bag that becomes a hot air balloon, creating air vortexes with our vortex generator, and an exothermic reaction will leave the audience “blown” away!
